If you have trouble uploading your finished projects or making the pictures look great, you have come to the right place.
Answers to your riveting Creations questions here.

Upload a Creation
  1. Sign into your BurdaStyle account.

  1. To upload a creation you may either begin by selecting “upload a creation” in the upper right hand corner of the “Creations” section of the website OR you may go to the “Members Menu” (to the right in your profile) and select “Edit” next to “Creations” then click “upload creation.”

  1. Fill in the information about your creation in the provided fields.

  1. To add a picture of your creation select “Browse” next to “Media.” Note: make sure the photo is no more than 400 pixels wide.

  1. When you are finished, select “Save.”

How to Link Your Creation to Relevant Content on the Site?
  1. When you are uploading your creation, list which, if any, patterns you used.

  1. Under the “patterns” section of the upload, you will see a section titled “related items”. Here, list any creations that inspired you, or the name of the How To that you used or think may be relevant for other members making a similar creation.

3 Start typing the name of the Creation/How To, and you will see a drop down list appear. Click on the correct name.

  1. To add more than one Creation or How To, clear the box after you select the first name, and start typing the name of the second Creation/How To. Click the one you used. Continue this process until you have added all related content.

Take Great Project Photos

Photos are almost as important as your wonderful creations. Without a great photograph, we can’t fully appreciate your hard work. A little bit of effort and know-how will go a long way!

  1. Have a nice background!

    • Stand in front of a wall or in your garden.

    • Avoid having messy clutter in the camera frame—it distracts from the beauty of your creation!

  1. Make sure the lighting is right!

    • Don’t take a picture in a bat cave.

    • Make sure you are well lit.

    • Holding a white cardboard horizontally in front of you (out of the camera’s sight) helps reflect daylight on your face and clothes.

  1. You should be facing the light source when taking your pictures; don’t be backlit. This allows everyone to see the creation much more clearly.

  1. Show your lovely face.

    • This helps demonstrate the proportions of the outfit and creates a nicer atmosphere. Looking down or to the site or wearing hat can cover your face slightly if you prefer to not show it.

  1. Make sure the picture is in focus.

    • It’s so nice to be able to see the details and really admire your work.

  1. Take an interesting photo!

    • Play with shadows, take an artsy shot, experiment with backgrounds, strut your stuff.

If you want to get really fancy and edit your photos with Photoshop (or an equivalent) use these tricks:

    • To adjust the darkness go to Image>Adjustments>Level

    • To increase the vividness go to Image >Adjustments>Hue/Saturation

    • To adjust final Brightness go to Image>Adjustments>Brightness/Contrast
