It is easier to use fabric that is not too slippery, since the gathering on the neckline is harder to distribute evenly. Make sure to stitch down the gathering before attaching it to the neckline, that helps as well.

1. Before finishing all the seams neatly, try the dress on. There are chances that you may have to adjust the fit in the backseam.

2. Be creative with the neckline. You can add all sorts of trims or decorations to it.
